4Nice chair & good customer service from ChiccoOct 10, 2007
I bought the Sahara, double padded version of this chair from Babies'R'Us and so far it's held up quite well. It's survived two moves and pretty much looks like we bought it yesterday. Some of the other reviewers have mentioned cleaning problems, but we haven't experienced that. We clean it every day or two and wipe it off after each meal because I can't stand a dirty highchair and it goes pretty smoothly. The customer service from Chicco has been excellent. I had to call them today because the harness lock jammed on one side and we couldn't get it out. I told them I bought it ten months ago and they are shipping a replacement harness today, no questions asked, no receipt required. It's been a good chair for the money.

1All the bells and whistles but ... they're cheaply craftedOct 23, 2006
Awful. Feels cheap. Looks cheap. But isnt cheap. Harness connection is IMPOSSIBLE. Seat doesnt support my 5 month old (though she's within the guidelines). Harness/restraints wont tighten enough--if I could latch and unlatch it (which I cant) The tray is easy to get offtrack (I can see why other reviewers had related safety problems)

Sure, this high chair does all the things the chairs of this class do: it reclines, it has multiple height adjustments. I think this wowed some of the other reviewers but ... all the other highchairs at this price point have the same perks! So RUN, do not walk toward any OTHER highchair.

We had this chair in our house for a day, then drove it back and begged for an upgrade. We bought the Peg Perego because it was the only other model they had. Its $70 more but having had the Chicco in my house... I can appreciate the quality of the Peg Perego. Its sturdier, has a better finish, has a more sensible harness latch, and a tray thats easily inserted. AND my baby FITS in it for her first solid meal!

I am so relieved.

My sister-in-law asks if I got a bargain. I probably own one of the more expensive highchairs out there, but YES! I've been spared living and struggling with the Chicco, and I have an expensive but incredibly functional and reasonably attractive replacement. A TOTAL BARGAIN.

1HARD TO CLEAN--LOOKS NICEAug 03, 2006
This got good reviews so I bought it. The one thing this high chair has going for it is that it does look nice in my kitchen but it is very hard to clean, and my son fell out of it within the first few days. The tray comes completely off, but you can't submerge it in water, so that is a definate minus. There is a nice plastic tray you can wash, but my son always manages to get the big tray dirty too. The locking mechanism on the tray is too flimsy and my son fell to the floor soon after my purchase and has almost fallen out a few times since.
There are too many crevices and small areas for food to get stuck. In fact I regularly use a toothpick to clean all the small lines on the tray and the arms of the chair. It's the only way to clean it. You can't really get the cushions too wet or it takes forecer for them to dry out. They are plastic covered, but they hold water for long periods of time.
Not as compact as it looked online..the legs are wider than they appeared. I should have stuck with my Graco.
This took way too long to get in once I placed my order, and I evenually had to go pick it up in store.
I can't wait to get my son into a booster!

1Caveat emptor - BUYER BEWARE - HARD TO CLEANJul 29, 2006
When I first saw this highchair I too was in awe - I thought it had everything - I love the idea of a double pad, so one can be taken off and really cleaned without leaving the chair naked, I also loved the neutral colors and I loved the ease of assembly which is next to nil.

HOWEVER, and this is a big HOWEVER, this highchair is impossible to clean - the design is totally flawed in that there are seams everywhere and anywhere there is a seam is just one more place where food gets stuck and then bacteria can grow. It is really a mother's nightmare. There are seams in both armrests in multiple locations (all within easy reach of baby of course), there are seams in the tray itself where the top and bottom pieces connect or fit together so tons of food gets stuck in there, and there are holes all along the inside of the armrests for different tray positions - again right where baby can reach and clog them full of food! There are also seams along the "elbows" that hold the legs in place - sounds far enough away, but somehow my baby managed to clog those seams with food too.

Honestly, this highchair seems great until you really start using it and then watch out - you are dealing with a serious challenge when it comes to cleaning it - I would literally use a designated toothbrush to clean all the nooks and crannies but to no avail, some are just too tight a fit to get the bristles into but yet the food still stayed. Frankly I was worried about the ongoing health of my baby if I continued to use this highchair based on my inability to properly get all the old food scrubbed out - I was honestly worried it was a bacterial health hazard or that he would get food poisoning!

Thank goodness the store I bought it from was more worried about my satisfaction than the manufacturer, Chicco, who told me there was nothing they could do for me - no substitution, no compensation and NO APOLOGY!

Honestly - all moms out there should seriously steer clear of this one and spend your money elsewhere. This highchair is a mother's worst nightmare!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5The ultimate highchair!Jul 14, 2006
Out of all the highchairs that I looked at (and I looked at many) this one was by far the best. It is easy to clean, very easy to use, comfortable for my baby, and folds down very slim and small. It has very feature that you would want in a highchair.

I highly recommend this highchair.
